THE
MUMMIES OF KHERIT |
|
|
| These mummies were born
of a massive ceremony presided over by Pharoah Kherit early in the Fifth
Year of the Eighth Age. These are fifth rank, invoked, humanoid,
intact mummies, formed via Dark Pacts with unknown powers. They
appear as aged and withered priests of Set. |
|
|
|
Although it may be indescrete to
display current villians where my players can access them, I thought these
might make great villians for other people's campaigns. |

back from any form of destruction eventually (including wishes. 5th
rank mummies cannot be destroyed by wishing). |
|
|
| Mummy disease is
fatal in 1d3 days. The rot also induces blindness by the end
of the first day. By the second day Dex, Int, and Wis are |
|
|
|
reduced by d6 points
because the disease is reaching the brain. By the third day, Dex,
Int, and Wis will reduce d20 points (less than zero results in death) Cha
is reduced by 2 points per day. Str and Con are reduced by one
point per day. The actual rot afflicts all areas touched by the
mummy. The victim will be wracked with convulsions which will cause
a -2 penalty to checks and will make spell casting and memorization
impossible. After death, the body decomposes
rapidly. |
|
|
| Aura of Fear (Su):
Each mummy has an aura of fear (-3 on
fear checks, lasts 1d10 rounds). |
|

| An Ankh will heal the
mummy 2d8 points. Holy symbols do no damage, nor does holy
water. There is a -4 penalty to turning these mummies. They
cannot be permanently destroyed by turning unless their rejuvination power
is halted. |
|
|
| Each mummy has 20 spirit
items. Each spirit item has a 24 AC and 90 hitpoints. The
amulets are affixed after "the awakening" to the back of the Collar of
Gold (spirit item 7). The mummy's hitpoints are halved if it is not
wearing the collar. |
|
|
| 1. The amulet of
the heart (Carnelian) "I am the Bennu, the soul of Ra, and the guide of
the gods who are in the underworld. Their divine souls came forth
upon earth to do the will of their doubles, let therefore the soul of the
Osiris come forth to do the will of his double." The power of life,
the source of thought. (placed over the breast) - The mummy will become a
mindless automation if this is destroyed, only wanting to kill the
destroyer of the amulet. |
|
|
| 2. The amulet of
the scarab (Green Marble set in gold) " I am Thoth, the inventor and
founder of medicines and letters; come to me, thou that art under the
earth, rise up to me, thou great spirit" Animation. The mummy
will lose the power to animate other objects if this is
destroyed. |
|
|
| 3. The amulet of
the Buckle (red jasper) "The blood of Isis, and the strength of Isis, and
the words of power of Isis shall be mighty to act as powers to protect
this great and divine being, and to guard him from him that would do unto
him anything that he holdeth in abomination" (attached to the neck)
destruction will remove Magic Resistance. Also ability to cast
spells will be halved if destroyed. |
|
|
| 4. The
amulet of the Tet (gold) " Rise up thou, O Osiris! Thou hast thy backbone,
O Still-Heart! Thou hast the fastenings of thy neck and back, O
Still-Heart! Place thou thyself upon thy base, I put water beneath
thee, and I bring unto thee a Tet of gold that thou mayest rejoice
therein." The power to reconstitute the body and to become a perfect
Khu (spirit) in the underworld. (attached to the neck). This will
turn the mummy's rejuvination power to first rank if destroyed. |
|
|
| 5. The amulet of
the Pillow (Hematite) "Thou art lifted up, O sick one that liest
prostrate. They lift up thy head to the horizon, thou art raised up,
and dost triumph by reason of what hath been done for thee. Ptah
hath overthrown thine enemies, which was ordered to be done for
thee. Thou art Horus, the son of Hathor, who givest back the head
after the slaughter. Thy head shall not be carried away from thee
after, thy head shall never, never be carried away from thee." This
will drop the mummy's rejuvination rank down by one, destroying the
ability if #4 is also destroyed (and destroyed First!) |
|
|
| 6. The amulet of
the Vulture clutching a pair of Ankhs.(gold) "Isis cometh and hovereth
over the city, and she goeth about seeking the secret habitations of Horus
as he emergeth from his papyrus swamps, and seh raiseth up his shoulder
which is is in an evil case. He is made one of the company in the
divine boat, and the sovereignity of the whole world is decreed for
him. He hath warred mightily, and he maketh his deeds to be
remembered; he hath made the fear of him to exist and awe of him to
have its being. His mother, the mighty lady, protecteth him, and she
hath transferred her power unto him." Protection from
elements. This will remove his immunity to elements if
destroyed. Also the loss of this item will halve his magic
resistance and halve his experience level. It will also remove his
ability to cast illusions. |
|
|
|
7. The Collar of Gold
(gold) "O my father, my brother, my mother Isis, I am unswathed and I
see. I am one of those who are unswathed and who see the god
Set." The power to free himself from his swathings. Destroying
this after he is free will drop his fear aura down to first
rank. |
|
|
| 8. The amulet of
the papyrus sceptre (blue porcelain) "It is in sound state, and I am
in sound state; it is not injured, and I am not injured; it is not
worn away, and I am not worn away." Renewed youth. His strength will
drop to 4 if destroyed. |
|
|
| 9. The amulet of
the soul (gold inlaid with precious stones in the form of a human-headed
hawk) "Hail thou god Anniu! Hail, thou god Pehrer, who
dwellest in thy hall! Grant thou that my soul may come unto me from
wheresoever it may be. Let me have possession of my sooul and of my spirit
and let me be true of voice with them wheresoever they may be."
Enables the soul to unite with the mummified body and the spirit (khu) and
the spiritual body at will. Destruction of this will erase his
memory (including spells - not illusions) |
|
|
| 10. The amulet of the
Eye of Horus (Utchat) (jasper) (one made of lapis lazuli and plated with
gold was sacrificed in the mummification ceremony) "The god Thoth hath
brought the Utchat" Power. The ability to see in the dark is granted
by this amulet. Also governs the ability to give the Curse of
Vengeance. |
|
|
| 11. The amulet of
life (Ankh) Gives the mummy 8 points per die. If destroyed,
the Mummy must roll a d6 to determine hitpoints (damage still remains
unchanged!) |
|
|
| 12. The amulet Nefer
(red porcelain) represents a musical instrument and conferred good
luck. This amulet empowers the mummy to his saving throws.
If it is destroyed, the mummy saves on 20s only. |
|
|
| 13. The amulet of
the Serpent's Head (red jasper) "Oh serpent! I am the flame which
shineth upon the opener of hundreds of thousands of years and the standard
of the god Apshai and Set" The destruction of this amulet will end
the mummy disease. |
|
|
| 14. The amulet of
Sam (lapis lazuli) a phallic shape refering to animal pleasures.
This amulet permits the mummy to the skills it had in life. |
|
|
| 15. The amulet of
the Shen (lapis lazuli) - a circle on a line- Eternity. The mummy
will begin to decay if this is destroyed. It will lose 1HD per
month. |

resurrection. Allows the mummies to retain their priestly
powers. |

inlayed in jade and gold. |
|
|
| 18. Mestha

large intestine) Inscribed on the jar "I am Mestha thy son, O
Osiris. I have come that I may be in thy protection. I make
thy house flourish, Firm, firm, hath commanded Ptah, as commanded Ra
himself" If this is destroyed, the mummy's AC is 10. |
|
|
|
19. Haypi (dog
headed jar holding the small intestines) Inscribed on the jar " I am
Haypi thy son, O Osiris. I have come that I may be in thy
protection. I tie up for thee thy head and limbs, smiting down for
thee thy enemies beneath thee. I give to thee thy head forever." Allows
the mummy to splinter his Ka, giving each ushabti the ability to do 1d8
damage (if large) 1d6 (if man-sized) 1d4 (if smaller). |
|
|
| 20. Tuamayutef
(jackal headed jar with the lungs and heart therein) Inscribed "I am thy
son Tuamayutef, thy Horus, loving thee. I have come to avenge my
father Osiris, not allowing to be done to thee his destruction. I

(canopic jar, hawk headed, containing the liver and gall blader) Inscribed
it says "I am thy son Qebesennuf, O Osiris. I have come that I may
be in thy protection. I gather together thy bones, I collect thy
limbs, I bring for thee thy heart, I place for thee it upon its seat in
thy body, I make thy house flourish." This grants the mummy the
ability to track its belongings. |
|
|
| All four canopic jars
(#18 through #21) are made of beautiful alabaster and the covers are
fastened on with plaster. |
