MUMMIES, THE ANCIENT DEAD
Mummies, the ancient dead, are powerful forms of Undead.  Connected to the Positive Material Plane, mummies come in various strengths, from the weak 1st rank to the unstoppable 5th rank.  Most are capable of pronouncing deadly curses, and nearly all have the infamous "mummy rot".  Many of the most powerful mummies are priests of ancient gods, such as the ones the Khemians worship.
To qualify as a mummy, or an ancient dead, a creature must have died, had his/her body preserved in some way, his/her spirit must now occupy the body that housed it in life, and the monster must derive its powers from a connection with the positive material plane.  True ancient dead possess the following powers to some degree: rejuvination, fear, invulnerability, and disease.

The mummies of
Khemt are the most famous of the mummies in Inzeladun, but other sorts, such as bog mummies in Ophyr, exist also.  The Dagam of ancient times also used to mummify their dead.

Mummies are frightening and terrible opponents.  Be warned, they may not look like mummies at all.... and misidentifying your opponent can be most deadly.
