JOTHSTRA The Frost Brand

A powerful greatsword, Jothstra was the weapon of choice for Lord Komaaks Nagutsikatsenu wayu Tlasinuka Genodla. A frost brand, Jothstra is a +3 weapon, dealing +1d6 points of bonus cold damage with each strike. The wielder is given incredible fire resistance, absorbing the first 10 points of fire damage each round that the wielder would otherwise suffer. It has all the other powers associated with a Frost Brand. Caster Level: 14th; Prerequisite: Craft Arms and Armor, ice storm, dispel magic, protection from elements; Market Price (not including gemstone): 49,350 gp.

The weapon has a distinctive six foot long blade and a jewel at the end of the 24" grip (Komaaks was 7'10" in height). This weapon was created during the Fourth Age by Thebez the Mage. The blade was forged by Dwarven swordsmiths in Thebez's employ. The hilt is constructed of unknown materials, and the gemstone on the end is a blue diamond of the largest size ever seen on Inzeladun. It is believed that Thebez either found the stone on the Elemental Plane of Earth, or it was a gift to him from a denizen of that plane. The weapon was intended for Thebez's stone golem guardian, thus the great length. A warrior named Salcah eventually purchased the blade from Thebez and used it for three months. Salcah met his doom in the dungeons of Saboath. A youthful Komaaks, a half-ogre warrior, found Jothstra there several hundred years later. The weapon was buried with him at the end of the Sixth Age. Due to the length of time this weapon was associated with Lord Komaaks, it has assumed some aspects of the half-ogre, so it now grants the rage ability to its wielder 1/day (or one additional time per day if the wielder can already rage).

A copy of this weapon was created by The Tower for the use of Komaaks' clone. It has the same name and is presumed to still be in the possession of the Komaaks clone.

The blade is six feet long and the hilt is 24", making this weapon in excess of 8 feet in total length.
