THE SHEEN
Lifted from the pages of Dragon Magazine, I have modified the Sheen, giving them psionic circuitry as shown in the Illithiad, and made them into the weapons of the Mind Flayers.  The picture below is of the most powerful sheen seen to date - the Render.

Renders, and other sheens,  were first developed on Inzeladun by Boska Ardtain, a Yazirian from another planet.  Captured by the Mind Flayers, Boska was forced to create these monsters for them.  The first sheens were utilitarian, and worked for the mind flayers in more industrial ways, but the sheens most likely to be encountered first by the humans of Inzeladun will be the Renders.  Standing ten feet tall, these metallic monsters can slaughter a human being in seconds.

Currently they are in a prototype stage and have several known weaknesses - if you stand still, they cannot see you; if you climb on them, they cannot get to you; their shields are ineffective; and they have no immunity to magic whatsoever; and any sort of psionic contact allows the one who contacts it control.

Renders are sometimes sent on long term missions by the controlling illithid mind.

Combat:

Plasma breath weapon (Ex):  A line of superheated plasma (80 ft range) for 16d10 damage.  Saving DC is 15.

Magic susceptibility: Unsuited to resist magic.  All saves against magic are at -2.

A funny thing happened while I was designing this page.  My little three year old son saw the picture of the Render Sheen and asked, "What is that, daddy?"  I answered that it was a render sheen.  He looked at it and said, "It says, 'Cut, cut, cut!'"

I thought that was pretty funny!

(Although Manderkarr may not agree...)
