On the Ides of Nemed a newborn child was found laying on steps of Athena’s Temple in Allahin Laswir. The child was quickly brought to the oracle of the Temple and was named Alexander Animus Litus Maximus in hopes that he would grow to become a great warrior of the mind. Alexander spent his youth training in the ways of the priesthood at Athena’s temples in Allahin Laswir and Peswarswir. When his instruction was completed he was one of many priests sent out into the world to spread the greatness of Athena and gather knowledge of the world. He traveled alone through Lamapacher and into Drychtnoth, where at a Carnival he met the first friends he had ever made outside of the priesthood and learned of the threat the Illithids posed to Inzeladun. From that point Alexander traveled across Inzeladun, to another world, into the astral plane and back to Ingara. In Ingara he was dubbed The Gauntlet of Athena by the same oracle that named him and led his friends far underground to destroy an elder brain. From there he traveled back into Lamapacher to spread word of the Illithid threat and joined up with another group of Ingarans

When they reached Alisander the Ingaran group saved the city from an illithid cult and Alexander preformed the miraculous resurrection of India, Phaidon and Zografos in front of the cities populous. For his service Alexander was made a Knight of Alisander, the Order of the Blood Owl.  He was also granted nobility, given control of Talishar, a border region of Lord Nadam's kingdom.  As the marquis of Talishar, Alexander has more power than many nobles because of his role as defender of the realm.  The title of marquis entitles Alexander to be addressed as Lord. Once Alexander and his companions arrived in Talishar they discovered an evil temple near the town. They destroyed the temple and Alexander has begun building a grand temple to Athena at the evil temples previous location.

After handling his responsibilities in Talishar Alexander joined many of Inzeladun’s great heroes in an attack on the Illithid’s main headquarters. The success of the battle forged an alliance between the Gauntlet of Athena and Roland the Chaos Lord against anything that would threaten Inzeladun. The battle was not without a cost however, Neria is still missing and Phaidon had to be rescued from hell after he was captured during the battle.

When the Ingaran group returned from hell, an Olympian host visited Talishar and proclaimed Alexander immortal. However, ill omens followed his auspicious return and Alexnader was forced to return to Alisander where he found Nadam had been overthrown by Ool with the aid of Ares and Larbius. Alexander then lead the Ingaran Heroes to save Acetes & Podaleirus from the mother of all monsters in a battle where the Dark Athena was destroyed and the appearance of Zeus gave Alexander a clue to his linage (as well as the linage of another Ingaran Hero). Afterwards the Ingaran Heroes seized control away from Ool and released Ares who, in return, revoked his support of the Saudians rule in Ingara. Nadam, however, was dead and did not wish to return so Alexander was made King of Alisander.

Alexander once had a vision of Athena who told him to free Ingara from the rule of the Saudians. Alexander intends to do so, but he is concerned that the responsibilities he is accruing are preventing him from doing so in the near future. Sometimes he worries that the gods made him immortal so he can see this come to pass in spite of the fact that it means everyone he has grown to care about will be long dead before the burden is lifted. The crown of Alisander rest uncomfortably on Alexander’s brow, he never anticipated such an event and the formalities of kingship do not suit him. As such he has directed all to refer to him as consul and done his best to make the city self-governing. While he still maintains direct control over diplomatic, security and military matters he tries to limit his intrusion inside the city itself to building and civil improvement programs. Such as the recent monuments he has ordered to be built or the colleges he has founded.

Recently, one of his advisors was captured and brought to Sigil and so the Ingaran adventures mounted an expedition to find him. Thus, enabling Alexander to travel to the fabled ring-city and fulfill a childhood dream. Perhaps when matters are concluded in Sigil, there will be time for a trip to Olympus.

Alexander has met and traveled with many interesting people and let them prove themselves regardless of their appearance or heritage. But the deaths of Seth, Piper, Shanagra, Manderkarr, and Kotz weigh heavy on him at times and Alexander discourages followers he feels are not up for the dangers of Athena’s Crusade because he does not want to be responsible for their deaths.

Alexander considers Issic to be his best friend, since they have traveled together the longest and shared many battles, and still marvels at the half dragons strength. Phaidon and India serve to ground Alexander and he hopes that the dangers he asks them to face to not prevent them from finding the happiness they both seek. While Alexander knows Cthaat means well he is worried that she is becoming the same kind of zealot that would persecute those that he has befriended in the past. And while he is still concerned about Zografos, especially considering his most recent change, he knows that that the Olympians are making efforts to redeem him. He just hopes that India doesn’t kill him before that occurs. Also, Alexander wonders what happened to Flower and prays that Athena will keep her safe.

The 5’11’ Alexander is not very imposing, especially when compared to the company he keeps. Furthermore, even though his dark eyes report his wisdom, his young face still betrays his age. When Alexander first left the temple he was not in the best of shape due to depending on his psionic gifts to accomplish most physical tasks and an over zealous love for the products of Ingara’s vineyards and farms. Although a year of solid marching and battle has done its part in hardening Alexander’s body it still has not completely undone the excesses of his youth. Normally, the priest tries to keep an air of civilization about him; no matter where Alexander travels he dresses in an Ingaran toga and keeps his dark curly hair neatly trimmed in the Ingaran style. He is very proud that his priesthood allows him to carry the Lion Armor of Apisonete and The Lion Shield of Wilminius III so he displays them almost as proudly as he does his holy symbol, which is always found around his neck. On his skin Alexander carries psionic tattoos that were captured from the Illithids.  He isn’t very proud of carrying these and tries to reshape them into images of owls and Athena or hides them under this toga when possible. Despite becoming a king Alexander has not changed, much to the chagrin of many of Alisander’s advisors, his general manner of behavior or dress.

Combat:

Alexander is fearless in combat because he believes that he and Athena’s other Champions (his friends) are all but invincible when carrying out her will. In combat Alexander will typically use the psionic powers Stomp and Concussion to knock his opponents back and give him room to cast spells. Alexander favors spells that do damage over a period of time and let him cast other spells while the enemy is occupied such as Spiritual Weapon and Summon Monster. When in melee Alexander fights with a +5 holy lawful pilum of speed, which was made for him by Athena herself, he calls the weapon Athena’s Wrath. When in danger Alexander releases the Celestial Lion contained in his armor to protect him.

Magic Items:

Athena’s Wrath: This is a +5 holy lawful pilum of speed that was made by Athena for Alexander.

The Lion Armor of Apisonete: +1 Samnite armor emblazoned with a lion on the breastplate.  This impressive armor summons a celestial lion to aid the wearer one time each day.  Apisonete, a druid ranger of the Fifth Age, traveled the world extensively.  On the subcontinent of Mbakanae, he discovered lions.  Taking one to be his animal companion, he soon befriended others.  By the time he returned to his homeland, Vanth, which would later become known as Ingara, he had a small army of lions.  He commissioned this armor to be made.  He only wore it once, in a ceremony, where he was assassinated.  His ghost, it is said, still haunts the armor.  The armor was donated to the Temple of Athena, and was given to its favorite warriors.   No one understands how, but no matter how the warrior wearing it meets his demise, the armor is always found a day or two later in the armory of the Temple.  The armor is scratched and worn, for it has been in at least one hundred and thirty four known battles, and has been worn by at least seven heroes of the Ingaran Empire.

The Lion Shield of Wilminius III: This shield, a +2 steel shield fashioned to appear to be a roaring lion's head.  Three times per day, the lion's head can be commanded to attack (independently of the shield wearer), biting with the wielder's base attack bonus (including multiple attacks if the wielder has them) and dealing 2d6 damage (x2 critical).  This attack is in addition to any actions performed by the wielder.  It was created for Wilminius III, who hated his name and went by the name "Lion of Vanth", or just "The Lion".  Wilminius III fought alongside the Zamarchi in their wars against the giants.  He later defended Vanth against the awakening dragons.  This is how he met his death.  The Lion Shield languished in a dragon's lair for centuries until it was found by the warrior-priest Arthonius of Ingara.  When Arthonius retired from the warrior life to become the Lord High Priest of Athena in the capital of Ingara, he donated the shield to the Temple.

+1 Holy Illithid Bane Pilum of Thelebius Gul:  Not an ancient weapon at all, this weapon dates back a mere 40 years.  It was commissioned by Belshavor the Illithid Slayer, a paladin/sorcerer, for his apprentice, Thelebius Gul.  Thelebius used the weapon in many campaigns in the underworld homes of the Mind Flayers before he was made into an illithid thrall.  The sole survivor of that doomed expedition, a priest of Athena, brought the weapon back to the surface.  Occasionally it saw use by the priests of Athena, who loaned it out sporadically over the last 25 years.  The short spear does +2d6 damage vs. evil, +2d6 vs. mind flayers, +4d6 vs. evil mind flayers.
